Young Goldfinch

Finally I've had my first young bird come to the feeders, although I have heard plenty up in the trees from Bluetits to Goldfinches, it's a Goldfinch that took the plunge.

Unlike the adults they don't have the dark head and red crown, but none the less they are quite stunning.

You can see some of the adults I've had visit HERE

Hope you like the shots.. (you might recognise the perch)

All photos taken 14/06/2008.

  2. I love to see the feathers when you get close up. This is a beautiful bird even though it is still a young bird.

  3. Those are adorable! I love the spotty feathers! Their parents are beautiful and I'm glad you put the link for their pictures, too. You've really taken a lot of good photos of them. I'm always amazed how different your goldfinch is from ours. About the only thing in common is the black and white on the wings.
