New arrivals

We had a quick trip to Martin Mere this afternoon to check out if the geese had started to come in, I'm glad to say there are thousands, mainly Pink Footed Geese and you could see them coming in far off in the distance.

I may have said it before, but I will try and video them coming in, the sound is amazing and quite relaxing.

Autumn watch is normally filmed at Martin Mere, but sadly this year they are trying somewhere new.

Another new arrival that surprised me this morning was this Siskin, it was sat on the feeder tree along with 7 or 8 Goldfinches, I don't recall seeing them here this time of year.

    Cool - we haven't gotten any Migrants. Yet. They are on the way right now I guess.

    Very nice detail Mike. We have them here , but they are called Pine Siskins, and tend to have more yellow on the wings.

    A Pink-footed Goose would be a lifer for me Mike. I would love to see one. Seeing thousands of them at one time must be amazing. I could almost hear them.

    The little siskin is nice. I hope the reason they are here so early isn't because their natural habitat has been extinguished.

    Wow...both shots are great! That fly in looks fantastic. I haven't seen any pine siskins lately. They should show up before long. Ours hang out with the Goldfinches, too, but of course our goldfinch looks much different from yours.

    You have some beautiful photos here in this post. I never get to see any type of siskin here and would not realize it until they were gone. As far as geese goes, we do get the Canada Geese or Goose but that is about it. I have seen snow geese gleaning cord fields when there was also water standing but only on rare occasions.
