More young

Here are a few shots from earlier in the week of a couple of young Blackbirds.

This week has been quite good for young birds in my garden, so far we have had chicks from Great tits, Blue tits, Chaffinch, Goldfinch and more exciting Greater spotted Woodpecker.

I saw the Woodpecker around 6 o'clock tonight with its amazing red crown and the adult up in the tree nearby, hopefully the rain will stop for a while tomorrow evening and I can wait for it to come to the feeders again.

Fingers crossed I will capture all of the birds mentioned and post pictures of them, for now I hope you like the Blackbirds.

Photos taken 16/06/2008.

  1. Hi there Mike, great shots of the blackbird young :-D

I love seeing the blackbird young in the garden. I have been slow to get photos of the garden birds recently. This time of year of always very busy. I really need to catch some 'young shots' too before they get much bigger.

Sorry I haven't visited in a while. My comments have been missing in many of my favourite blogs :-)

Enjoy the rest of your week. I will be back :-D

  2. That young blackbird is cute. You have captured some great pictures of it. The one of the adult feeding it is really a good capture. It appears that you were able to get very close to them. Either that or you have a big lens. Either way a good set of photos.

  4. Really good photos! Just like baby birds everywhere....mouth open and waiting for a handout. I love the expression on that last one! Such a pitiful stare to convince mom it is truly being starved to death and neglected. The color in the feathers is great. Look forward to more babies!
