Quite a nice surprise this morning, I was sat in my conservatory when I spotted a Peacock Butterfly (another new visitor) on my Buddleia plant.
I don't usually see many butterflies in my garden because in the past I haven't really had anything to attract them, but the Buddleia has really paid its dues and money well spent if you ask me, I can see a few more being planted next year.
Here's a few pics I got, It was really lucky when the Bee landed underneath the Peacock, made for a nice shot.
So far in the last couple of months we have had a Large White, Peacock, Speckled Wood and Comma, not too bad, but maybe more next year when my Buddleia as really taken root.

Wow beautiful Mike. The contrast between the colors of the butterfly and the flower is awesome.... Beautiful sunny pictures. Well captured.
ReplyDeletePerfect!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, really stunning effect. We haven't seen a Peacock in our garden this year although we have seen Large White, Gatekeeper and Common Blue
ReplyDeleteShould get a Red Admiral, oh, and one of those Paited ladies! Great Photo's.
ReplyDeleteThis Peacock is just gorgeous. I can't wait until you post more butterfly photos. The bee really adds to the mix.
ReplyDeleteThanks all, it was a nice surprise.
ReplyDeleteYour image makes it difficult for us to choose between the flower and the butterfly. The combo is truly stunning.
ReplyDeleteNice photos. And yes, the butterfly bushes are very good at attracting the whole raft of butterflies and also bees of all kinds and hummingbirds. The original color of these bushes are the most productive though.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous butterfly! Such a dramatic combo of pattern and color. That plant is indeed worth its weight. I need to plant a few butterfly attracting plants.
ReplyDeleteYet more outstanding Images from your good self.
ReplyDeletePerfect.
