We currently have about 6-7 inches of snow which I know isn't a huge amount but for the northwest this is the most I have seen for years.
So back in the swing of blogging and taking photos here are some new shots from the past week and today, hope you like them.
The first shot is from my garden and is of a nuthatch, not in the best pose, but a bit different from the upside down shots these birds are so often caught in.
The next couple of shots where a bit of a surprise. I spotted them near my parents house one lunchtime and thought that by the weekend they would have all gone, thankfully they haven't eaten all the berries on the trees and have stayed a bit longer.
The first shot is of a Redwing, I have had these behind my house before and you can see them HERE.
And secondly a bird I have only seen at great distance a Fieldfare, who would have thought there would be 10+ on a main road. (photograph 1st)
All photos taken with a Nikon D70 + Sigma 170-500mm
I hope this isn't peaking too early and I am checking for sightings of waxwings daily, but so far nothing and it is a birds I am really hoping to photograph again.
Another task for the year is to update my gallery it is looking very dated.

Three pretty little visitors! The snow sure brings out everybody. I've had birds I don't normally see and a lot more of ones that come regularly. I like the lighting on the Nuthatch shot. I need some berry bushes for the berry eaters....those Redwings are really pretty. Each shot captures the personality of that particular bird! Great job!
ReplyDeleteWonderful birds Mike. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteMike, these are great shots. Funny how so little snow causes such a problem.
ReplyDeleteHi Mike,
ReplyDeleteyes this is a good start, congrats!!! These shots are all beautiful and the snow gives a special touch to them!!! I love the nuthatch shot as its attitude is so different from what we used to see (as you said)... Here it is now raining heavily and there is no way I can get my camera outside!
Great to see you posting these fantastic photo's Mike. My Redwing photo looks a poor effort in comparison to yours. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments guys, yes a little bit of snow really does cause a lot of problems, Looks nice though :)
ReplyDeleteMike.
You've got some good photos.
ReplyDeleteLovely shot of the Nuthatch Mike. Wish I had them visit my garden.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nuthatch are really nice birds to see. Mike :)
