After watching the first week of Autumn watch I decided to go to Formby point, about half an hours drive, there we saw the BBC film crew filming the now famous Fox and Red Squirels.

Funnily enough, as a child it was the red squirrel I always saw in my part of Perthshire, at the time, and it was on a visit to Edinburgh that I was thrilled to see the grey squirrel! The red squirrel really is quite special and I hope we don't lose it completely in the wild.

I have never seen a squirrel quite like this. We have fox squirrels here but they don't have the big red tufts on their ears. There are also some red squirrels but again they don't have those tufts of fur on their ears.
