Thanks for the Id from Warren Baker this is actually a Song Thrush, so my post now reads.
I feel like I have been watching this Song Thrush all day, and everytime I put my camera down it would show up again.
Similar in size to the Redwing shown in my earlier post, this also has been eating the berries, unfortunatley though I never managed to catch it eating.
I had just given up hope when I noticed it sat on my neighbours climbing plant about 8-10 mtrs away.
Although I have seen these birds in my garden before they too only seem to appear for the berries and then disappear.
What kind of berries do you have in your garden to attract Thrushes? Great photos. I read in my field guide that the Mistle Thrush has a flute-like call. I bet it sounds beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, not too sure what kind of berries they are, but they are on a type of Ivy that as completely covered a tree behind my house, I will try and find out. The bigger birds like the thrushes, doves and blackbirds are all going mad for them. Mike.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful little thrush. You have a nice blog here. I'll be back!
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful photos! The Thrush is very fat and sassy looking. You have such interesting birds and so different from where I live (Indiana). I looked through part of your gallery, and will be back to see more. Thanks for sharing wonderful photos.
