This morning though, with my eyes still a bit glazed over I wasn't too sure what I was seeing, my first thought was either a Robin or Chaffinch, but as I moved into the conservatory it flew off up into the trees.
A little later it returned to the feeders and the ID was certain a Brambling, I can't begin to tell you how many times I have read of sightings of these and gone to places where they have been seen.
Then to get up and see one in my own garden and to top it off I got a few photos, hope you like them.

ReplyDeleteWhat brilliant photos - I have never seen a brambling! Funnily enough on Thursday we had a new visitor to the food dropped below a feeder. This visitor is no way nearly as exciting as yours but we saw a collared dove - although the woodpigeon watched this visitor very closely :-)

ReplyDeleteOMG, I would FAINT if I saw a Brambling at our feeders. Yes, there have been a couple of sightings of Brambling with in driving distance from our house over the years. I ususally have had to work and miss the bird.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I did get to see one while on a birding tour in Alaska. It was awesome. I couldn't study it like you have done with your picture taking. Beautiful photos.
Shirl, I would take a Collared Dove at our feeders too. We have only seen them in the city where I live one summer. Where they went, we don't know but we can no longer find them here.
