My drawings

I thought I would be brave and show you a couple of drawings I have done. I did these quite a while ago now, its something I really enjoy doing, but don't get the time.

I will make a few excuses, my scanner is rubbish and the drawings look better on paper, hopefully this will make you go easy on me.

The Kingfisher was done using pastels, my photos of a kingfisher are HERE.

Hope you liked them.

  1. I can see you are a true atist whether you have camera or pastels in hand. I love your drawings Mike. Good job. I have never used pastels before. I use color pencils or watercolor for the most part.

My artsy side is part of my mid-life crisis I guess. ha..

As to that scanner...well, ours never cooperates with me.

  3. These are beautiful, Mike. A talented artist as well as a great photographer. I play with watercolors mostly and I'm going to try oils this spring. Lately, I've been caught up with photo-art, but when the weather gets better, maybe I'll get inspired to try some real stuff again.

  4. No need to make excuses....they are very nice! Keep it up! I recently bought pens to try some drawings...but haven't gotten up the nerve yet...so I appreciate seeing others try new things and share them. The colors were very well done.

  6. I think they are lovely and I do like them. And I think the Starling is portrayed with much dignity that is often not attributed to them. Perhaps your posting will give me inspiration to post of couple of mine.

I can completely understand how nervous you must have been posting your first drawings but now that you have I hope you will feel able to post more :-D

As a photographer you have watched these birds and understand them well and it shows in your drawings – nice work you have captured the character of the birds very well! I look forward to seeing more :-D
