South Coast Birds

There didn't appear to many birds around or any that came close enough anyway.

I could see plenty of Terns and Gannets diving through my bins out at sea, but where way off and came out like dots when I looked at the photos.

This Stonechat which you will see in the shots was really obliging and came in really close, hope you like the pics.

I know all the shots are very similar, but I just wanted to make the most of the only bird that came in close.

And finally a gull portrait

All photos taken with a Nikon D70 + Sigma 170-500mm

  1. You may be disappointed, but I think that little Stonechat is adorable and would have been really happy to take lots of photos of it. Your photos are wonderful and even in similar poses, there is always something that is different and shows a new bit of the bird....like that deep chest area. Besides, why waste really great pictures!

  3. They are both extremley good photographs. The Gull looks a bit like Studio Profile shot - and if she was sitting for you! :)

  4. From someone who rarely gets to even see a bird or take good aim before it flitters away, I think these are wonderful. And the eyes on that gull... Wow! :-)

  5. Very sharp pictures Mike even if the chat was the closest bird. What fun getting to see Gannets.

  7. Lovely blog my friend. It makes me homesick, as I only moved to Canada 6 years ago from the Uk.
