I'm not too sure of the ID on the last shot, I believe it is a pipit of some sort, looks like a meadow to me, can anyone help with the ID.

Scotland (5) - Feeding time
Feeding time and obviously a lot of mouths to feed, the song thrushes where quite numerous around the site, I was lucky enough to get quite close to this one and get a few shots off.
The shots are as follows 1 & 2). Song Thrush, 3). Blackbird, 4). ?
I'm not too sure of the ID on the last shot, I believe it is a pipit of some sort, looks like a meadow to me, can anyone help with the ID.

Lots of juicy looking worms they have there! Beautiful Thrush and all the pics are so sharp. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteEven looking at the photos in my field guide, it's hard to see any difference between a meadow pipit and a rock pipit. It says that the rock pipit is darker and has darker legs.
ReplyDeleteI've always assumed that the pipits that I've sometimes seen flitting about the rocks near the harbour at Lower Largo in Fife were rock pipits.
I always enjoy looking at your great photos.
Great shots of these busy parents. We get to see American Pipits here during migration. None of the pipits I could see in the States look quite like this.

ReplyDeleteHi Mike, Nice blog and some great shots. I'm going to be controversial here. I think the pipit is a rock pipit showing pale legs something I have seen on a few in Kent. Cheers, John
