Formby Mammals

I've been visiting Formby Point quite often lately, a chance to relax after a day at work.

On my last few visits I haven't seen a single squirrel, tonight though was a little more positive. We saw at least 4 Red Squirrels (I know that doesn't sound a lot), but when you walk round the woods and don't see even one you get a bit down hearted.

Heres a shot of one that came close in.

Another bit of good news is after walking along the beach trying to photograph waders which kept flying off before I could get anywhere near, we got back in the car to head home and came across the resident fox and I'm no expert but he looks a little healthier to me. Let me know what you think.

I think it will be back to birds for a while now.. hope you liked the Formby shots.

  1. When first looking at the squirrel photo I was struck by its beautiful colouring and immediately thought of your previous fox pictures. I was delighted when scrolling down your post I saw more fox pictures included!! And yes, I think it is looking better also.

  3. My...your squirrel is really red! How cute! I'm glad you saw it and got a picture. If he mated with my orange-bellied squirrels, they'd really be a colorful breed :-) I think the fox looks a bit healthier. Not so much heavier, but somehow less desperate looking. Maybe he's been dining on squirrels.
